Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation participates in the Billy Frank Jr. Classic Golf Tournament

Sequim, WA – May 17, 2019
Since 2005, the  Salmon Defense has held the Salmon Defense Golf Tournament to raise awareness and raise money for the operational support to keep the organization up and running.  The tournament was renamed the Billy Frank Jr. Classic shortly after he made his journey home on May 5, 2014.

The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe has generously donated their beautiful golf course, The Cedars at Dungeness, to Salmon Defense for the annual golf tournament.  The Cedars at Dungeness is located in Sequim, Washington, perfectly nestled between the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and provides views of both throughout the course. The BFJ Classic continues to grow each year, its fundraising objective an essential success,  The Nisqually Indian Tribe, Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation and Red Wind Casino were sponsors and participants of the event with other generous benefactors from tribal nations.

“We were  proud to participate again in this year’s tournament which benefits the Salmon Defense and protecting the PNW salmon and their habitats, ” said

Sharr Steetlah, Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation Board President.

Salmon Defense is addressing the need for a 100-year vision for salmon of the Pacific Northwest. Many salmon runs have declined to the point of near extinction and all are threatened; habitat loss and degradation are the principal causes.
