In a demonstration of its commitment to environmental conservation and community support, the Nisqually Indian Tribe’s Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation (MCEC) enthusiastically co-sponsored the 2023 Billy Frank Jr. Classic.
This annual event, dedicated to the memory of Native American treaty rights activist Billy Frank Jr., took place at the Cedars at Dungeness golf course in Sequim, WA, on August 11. The tournament served as a fundraiser for Salmon Defense, a nonprofit organization dedicated to safeguarding salmon populations and their habitats.
MCEC’s collaboration with Tribes and tribal partners across the region culminated in the 2023 Billy Frank Jr. Classic raising an impressive $131,000 for the protection of Pacific Northwest salmon.

Since 2005, Salmon Defense has held the Billy Frank Jr. Classic to raise awareness and raise money for the operational support to empower the organization to continue its mission to protect and defend Pacific Northwest salmon and salmon habitat.
