The Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation has acquired Norma’s restaurant located in the Nisqually Valley off of I-5

According the Nisqually Tribe newsletter “Squalli Absch News,” Norma’s restaurant was called Tiny’s when constructed in the 1965 and became Norma’s in 1993. 

“Acquiring Norma’s came about sort of organically. Word got out it was for sale and we were asked to investigate it and do due diligence on it as an acquisition,” said Bob Iyall, Medicine Creek chief executive officer.  “This fits well into Nisqually’s plans to continue to expand economic opportunity, keep the money here and grow the economy,” Iyall said.

Bob lyall also noted in the newsletter that there will be some “décor changes and some rebranding to better reflect Nisqually ownership as well as some menu changes.”

The recent purchase of the restaurant helps expands their vision and long-range planning for economic opportunity for the tribe and its neighbors in the area. With the acquisition of Norma’s, the Nisqually Tribe will employ about 1,300 people in Thurston and Pierce County via the Red Wind Casino, Nisqually government and administration jobs, six Nisqually Markets, the Nisqually Construction Company, She Na Nam Seafood in Tumwater and Nisqually Communications Company as well as MCEC itself.
