His attention to detail and strategic approach are key to approving and verifying purchases, monitoring price changes, and optimizing the overall gross profit margin.

“We audit purchases, watch price changes, manipulate our prices relative to costs, and keep an eye on our overall gross profit margin to ensure we are making money for the Tribe,” Steven said. “Our purpose here is to support the people of Nisqually through making money for the Tribe. And helping the Tribe succeed has always been my mindset.”

Outside of work, Steven finds joy in his family and being actively involved in their lives.

“Lately, it’s been tee ball, softball, and taking the kids to do fun things,” he said. “My family is my hobby right now. Before my family came along, I did a lot of woodworking, and ran a small sawmill at my house. Now I have three kids, and I spend my energy investing in them.”

Steven’s commitment to his family reflects his values of dedication and support, which he brings to his role at MCEC as well.
In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities and family commitments, Steven’s dedication to the Tribe’s mission and values shines through his commitment to their conservation efforts.

Getting the land back to its original state is what they are striving for.”
