In our June 2023 Employee Spotlight feature, we have the privilege of shining a well-deserved spotlight on Hoshanna Barrett, an exceptional team member at Nisqually Post & Print, a Nisqually-owned enterprise managed by Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation (MCEC). This Employee Spotlight recognizes Hoshanna’s outstanding dedication, compassion, and remarkable customer service skills, which have left an indelible mark on both her coworkers and the community she serves.
Azure Wills, the manager of Nisqually Post & Print, spoke highly of Hoshanna, emphasizing her exceptional qualities.

Hoshanna’s journey with Nisqually Post & Print spans over three years, during which she has truly embraced the significance of her work. When asked about what she enjoys most about her job, Hoshanna expressed her love for interacting with a diverse range of people.
“It’s rewarding to hear stories from Nisqually Tribal Elders that come in, and it’s gratifying to get to know the people of Nisqually, and to see the community thriving more and more,” she shared. Hoshanna’s genuine interest in the community and commitment to building connections reflect her deep appreciation for the people she serves.

Within her role, Hoshanna finds great fulfillment in bringing the graphic design projects of her customers from concept to creation.
“We do a lot of problem-solving for people during the graphic design process for the art and graphics we print for them,” Hoshanna said.
From capturing and commemorating special moments like high school graduations to the birth of a child, Hoshanna takes pride in being part of the process that helps individuals create lasting legacies.

Beyond her role at Nisqually Post & Print, Hoshanna is passionate about photography. She has been honing her skills as a professional and amateur photographer since she was 15 years old. With a particular affinity for period photography, Hoshanna enjoys organizing period-themed photoshoots, where she transports her subjects to different eras. By creating art that evokes the nostalgia of a bygone time, she brings joy and enchantment to those she photographs.
The connection between Hoshanna’s love for photography and her work at Nisqually Post & Print is evident. “Being able to make someone’s memories that are captured in time kind of come alive is a great feeling,” she said.
Whether it is through her own photography or assisting customers with their precious memories, Hoshanna understands the significance of preserving and revitalizing moments that hold immense value.
Daily at Nisqually Post & Print, Hoshanna assists customers with their postage and printing needs and goes above and beyond to ensure a seamless experience. As Hoshanna describes it, she and her coworkers troubleshoot postage problems and help customers navigate their daily errands. Their commitment to efficiency and customer satisfaction has garnered positive feedback, with many customers expressing gratitude for the prompt and friendly service they receive.
While Hoshanna is not a tribal member, she feels privileged to work for the Tribe and serve a traditionally underserved community that deserves honor and respect.
“Being able to be a participant in this community and treat others with the honor and respect they deserve is an opportunity that I don’t take for granted,” she said. “I’ve talked to so many Tribal Elders that have come in and articulated that the Tribe’s current level of economic success was once only a dream, and now it’s become a reality. It’s an honor to be just one part of that dream coming true.”
In a digital world where face-to-face interactions can sometimes be overlooked, Hoshanna cherishes the personal and healthy encounters that come with genuine connections. Her commitment to fostering relationships with her friends, family, and the community she serves highlights the impact meaningful connections can make.
