The camaraderie and shared commitment within the Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation (MCEC) family shone brightly at the 2023 Red Wind Casino (RWC) and MCEC Team Member Picnic, held on Wednesday, August 23, at Columbus Park.
The event promoted cross-enterprise collaboration, demonstrating the unity and shared dedication that underpin MCEC’s mission to support the economic prosperity of the Nisqually Indian Tribe.
RWC Service & Training Coordinator Wendy Scott spearheaded the event’s coordination with meticulous effort.
“Planning for the event all started back in November,” Scott said. “We gathered ideas and formed a picnic committee team, subsequently working closely with vendors and coordinators to ensure an unforgettable experience for our team members.”
Brennan Buell, lead trainer at RWC, shed light on the collaboration between MCEC entities to make the event possible.
“While we are separate enterprise entities, we’re all under the umbrella of MCEC, and this picnic is an embodiment of our collective effort to enhance the quality of life for Nisqually Tribal Members, our team members, and the surrounding community,” Buell said. “It’s about giving back, supporting the prosperity of the Tribe, and ensuring that our team members feel valued.”

Set to the backdrop of a live DJ, the picnic buzzed with activities tailored to provide relaxation, fun, and a sense of appreciation for all team members. From games, inflatable amusements, face painting, caricature artists, and balloon twists to the complementary offerings of food vendors and a delightful beer garden, the event catered to all interests.
“We are excited each year to see our employees and their families come out for a day of fun,” said MCEC Deputy CEO Jennifer Hines. “MCEC, and all its associated corporations and business lines, are made up of talented, amazing individuals. We are one team, dependent upon, and very appreciative of, our staff throughout the organization. Our team members are the most valuable asset to our enterprise. They work hard, innovate, and keep us moving forward. The picnic was one small way of giving back to those who are the foundation of our businesses.”
Through events like these, MCEC reinforces its commitment to fostering a sense of community and appreciation among its diverse entities, ensuring that its collective efforts uplift the hardworking individuals who labor for the betterment of the Nisqually Indian Tribe and its people.
